"I have never been inside a Walmart."

Then you really have no basis to JUDGE WalMart, compared to other retailers. I shop both WalMart (mostly for groceries) and Costco, (for things I can practically buy in mass quantities as a single man) Clothes, furniture, dishes, stereos and lamps I buy in local thrift stores. Transportation I buy through Craig's List.

I've found one thrift store in a tony part of town where I consistently find very expensive clothing, shoes, furniture, stereos and lighting, some hardly used.
