They have a cap on the increase in Florida... 3% per year, called "save our homes". Since I've lived in my house for 14 years I pay just north of $3K. If I sold the house the new owned would probably pay about $6K.

Makes downsizing difficult... if I bought a $400K townhome my property taxes would go up substantially.

Chump change. You should live in Austin, Texas. THEY pay a manly property tax there. My bro's bill last year was 22k!
