Perhaps the amount is so trivial that NOK thought it was worth a try. It might con some court into thinking that the payment does provide it with an immunity.


If that were the case it would mean they've already decided to go ahead and infringe. Then the "payment" is just a no additional risk gamble (may not help, but won't add to damages)
