I think what's important to note is not that Obama matched Clinton but from where his contributions came. Many were 20 somethings who have the rep of being apathetic politically. Is it apathy or indifference because of the quality of candidates?

I think its too easy to call Obama a rock star. It ignores the fact that many people are simply tired of politicians......people who talk in circles when they speak to them. Maybe Obama is no different but he feels different to a lot of people.

Obama Matches Clinton Fundraising

Democratic Senator Barack Obama thanks supporters for filling his presidential campaign war chest and bringing his fund-raising total, nearly even with front-runner Hillary Clinton.

Campaign officials say Obama raised $25-million dollars in the first three months of this year, compared to Clinton's $26-million. They add that the donations came from 100-thousand donors, more than half of them contributing through the Internet.

In an e-mail to supporters, the Illinois senator says the total exceeded all "hopes and expectations." He says that sends "an unmistakable message" about the seriousness of his campaign, and calls it a measure of how eager people are to end, what he calls, an "era of small and destructive politics."

Clinton campaign officials offered congratulations to Obama and the rest of the Democratic field, saying it "demonstrates the overwhelming desire for change" in the country.

Rounding the list of big-name Democratic candidates are Senator John Edwards, who raised $14-million in the first quarter, and Senator Joe Biden, who raised $3-million.

Republican candidates are keeping pace with their Democratic counterparts. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has raised $23-milllion, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has raised $15-million, and Arizona Senator John McCain has raised $12.5-million.

re: I bet you and your wife put down housewives all the time.

4 to 5 hours a day, while we sip chardonnay on the veranda.

I thought in the South it was mint juleps.
