You need to remember that in many cases in the 3'rd world, Marxism was embraced for nationalistic reasons against colonial western states. If Russia had been the dominant colonial master of the 3'rd world, you might well have seen Ayn Randism embraced as the nationalistic rallying ideology.

It is hard to believe the Congo would have been much worse off than it turned out under Moboto.
