In retrospect, he should have told Israel to invade him right after knocking out the Egyptian airforce, then he would do a quick surrender, and let them get on to the more important parts.

In effect, that's not what he said but what he did. However, the Jordanian lines collapsed so quickly that the Israelis found themselves at the Jordan River without having had any particular intention to go there.
