The reason the Quebecois don't separate is that they don't want to end up like Zimbabwe, or Mexico. It's the English speakers who keep them civilized and out of the gutter.

If they did separate, the Atlantic provinces might ask the USA if they could sign up as new states. Or just become little countries on their own, which is not a bad thing if they do it right. Or they could remain part of the Canadian system. Or maybe they could join the EU. Or New Zealand could annex them,along with Hawaii.
