One would think that rather obvious. Thanks for pointing it out. The RRR [Rabid Republican Right] seems to have gone hysterical over this. I watched Fox and normally rational people seem to have their brains go to mush over Nancy in a head wrap in Syria, frothing at the mouth and incoherent, ranting and shouting.

From the tiny bit I saw, I thought she was doing a good job. Assad was waving his hands flat out like a used car salesman.

It would be fun to send her and Hillary in there. And leave the head scarves off. And shorten the dresses. Keep Condoleezza on and have an all-woman visit. That would mess with Islamic Jihad's heads. It would mess with the RRR's heads too. Lots of fun. Not that I like Nancy's political ideology and economic "thoughts". Give me King George II. Not that I like his religious mania and oil obsession or his trigger-happy approach. Nor his anti-NUN mindset. Nor the dehumanizing of Un-Americans.

The amendments are as valid as any other part of the Constitution. The date they were ratified is irrelevant

There's a difference between mentioning a customary office in an amendment and that office being a constitutional office. The amendment also mentions the president pro tempore, which is not a constitutional office. Only the President, Vice President, Senators, Representatives, and Supreme Court Justices (by implication that there must be a Supreme Court) are constitutional offices with express constitutional duties. Everything else is a creature of statute or custom. The position of Speaker can be done away with a flick of the gavel. Cabinet officers can be done away with a flick of the pen. They have no constitutional weight, no constitutional duties.
