Iktomi...she fell and broke her hip. At first they were going to put a pin in it to fix it but the way it was broken they said they have to do a hip replacement. Sounds like recovery time might take several weeks. She is a young 87, and lives alone in an apartment.

My wife had a hip replacement operation done 4 months ago. She made a marvelous recovery, according to her Doctor, because she is thin. She was up and about in a few days and driving in 5 weeks. Using a toilet seat is essential as it puts much less pressure on the hip. My wife has a severe case of Rheumatoid Arthritis, which eats away at the joints.
