<<It is not the rule-follower IBM that created the computer industry, it was the weirdo, the ousiders, like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates some 25 years ago.>>

And it is still happening in progressive countries riddled with laws and rules.Look at the venture capital markets in these countries, they are booming as innovation is protected by patents..so "law of the six gun" does not rule against innovation .

<<Boeing, GE, GM, Cat, albeit created by the US long before rules for this rules for that, they were all, right now, being slowly withering away.>>

Boeing...booming! GE..we have no idea of what tremendous innovation is going on in their back rooms right now...GM has been on the ropes, but do not count them out yet.. that Concept car "Volt" is going to be a blockbuster..watch.. Cat.. where would the oilsands projects be without Cat??And all with all these rules and laws you are complaining about.

Tally up the well paying jobs with good pensions and benefits these companies have produced over the years and compare to countries where governments are freeee to rob Joe six pack blind and line their own pockets, examples are everywhere.

Don't get all caught up in growth of a country...look at how those in a country , willing to work for themselves, within a framework of laws and rules live.
