Tejek, of course they were gathering intelligence on Iran. The whole purpose of boarding vessels in those waters is to interdict war materiel from Iran before it reaches insurgents in Iraq. British and US military know that Iran is helping the insurgency, so they are trying to limit the amount of munitions like IEDs from making their way to the insurgents. So the British personnel's admission that they were gathering intel on Iran is not an admission at all.

They are spying on Iran. That's not just checking vessels for munitions.

Anyone with any knowledge of what's going on over there at all would have told you the same exact thing. Hell, if you'd asked, I would have told you that is what they were doing. But interdiction of Iranian munitions headed to Iraq does NOT mean they were in Iranian waters.

Both Bush and Blair have lied to us........repeatedly. The onus is on them. I think they are lying about this ship as well.

They can do those tasks just as easily once they are in Iraqi waters and the British have some pretty compelling evidence that they were in Iraqi waters. The two most compelling pieces of evidence are the following:

Sorry. You misunderstood the article. Its not just about boarding vessels. Its about spying on what Iran is doing. To do that, you have to be closer to Iran than in Iraqi waters.

1) the picture of the Brit soldier standing on the moored ship that was boarded holding a GPS device with Iraqi coordinates on it
2) the fact that the original GPS coordinates given to the Brits from Iran were 1.7 miles in IRAQI waters

I don't care. Its probably faked.

So all in all, the story could go either way, but right now it's pretty solidly on the side of the British doing exactly what they've been mandated by the UN to do:

From your POV............you want to believe the Brits and the Americans are the good guys no matter how much info you get to the contrary. That's the difference between you and I....I have read enough and seen enough to know that's not true.

Consider this!

"Have you ever thought -- Can a devout Muslim be an American patriot and a loyal citizen? Is Muslim American really an oxymoron? Consider this:

Theologically, no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia.

Religiously, no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally, no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).

Geographically, no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially, no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically, no. Because he must s submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the great Satan.

Domestically, no, because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

Intellectually, no, because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically, no, because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression.
Democracy and Islam cannot coexist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or Autocratic.

Spiritually, no, because when we declare "one nation under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran's 99 excellent names.

Therefore after much study and deliberation....Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country.
They obviously cannot be both "good" Muslims and good Americans.

Call it what you wish...it's still the truth."
