Masa, you're assuming all Nokia's patent claims are valid. They have a reputation for trying to patent everything including the kitchen sink in a desperate effort to provide some basis, ANY basis to confront QCOM.

All of us should not speculate on these patent issues, since none of us on this thread have enough specific information on the individual patents involved. We don't know whether the claims Nokia asserts are dated prior to patents received by QCOM, or many other specifics. Suffice to say that the basic CDMA technology (including many patents still in force) are owned by QUALCOMM, and no corporation or foreign government has found a way to work around them.

Additionally, Nokia's credibility is in question, judging by the half accurate statements it enjoys making in order to fool the press and the general public. Their pattern of misleading statements should be enough to raise a good many eyebrows.
