Re: The Big Lie

"Analysts have said, however, that the negotiations carry big consequences for how much consumers and equipment makers will pay for WCDMA phones and will help determine how quickly the standard takes hold." This is the "big lie" assertion, that will be repeated throughout this tortured process, to define Qualcomm as scurilous scum, and Nokia as a noble warrior. Imagine if they phrased it in terms of Nokia seeking to use their marketing and political might to greedily pad their profit margins, or to gain further advantage on their competition? Or if the same unnamed analysts asserted Nokia was trying to steal crucial intellectual property to maintain their old guard GSM hegemony? Or Nokia trying to further tilt the playing field in their direction? I guess those analysts didn`t read about LG`s win in the 3GSM For All contest, while paying the current the "world standard royalty rate", or consider that any savings to Nokia are unlikely to reduce the costs to consumers even one thin dime.

"Business is continuing as usual, and we are continuing the negotiations," Nokia spokeswoman Anne Eckert said,

Qcom can not let nokia get away with a statement like that. Business is NOT continuing as usual. To the degree that Nokia is utilizing qcom IP starting today, they are doing it illegally. They are stealing qcom assets. Criminal charges should be brought thru the US Attorney's office against nok & its employees who utlilize that data for their products-commencing today. i.
