I heard the networks were going to make Imus plait his hair in cornrows before they let him back on. I guess he will have to get a different-size hat.

My two cents worth is that people got to lighten up a little. If Archie Bunker said it years ago on All in the Family we all would have laughed. ;^)

Perhaps it will be enough to make Imus heed his own counsel.
Last November ,sen. John Kerry went on the Imus show and attempted to explain his botched joke about soldiers in Iraq. Imus cut him off.
"Please stop it.Stop talking. Go home, get on the bike, Go windsurfing, anything." He told the Massachussetts Democrat.
"Stop it"
Excellent advice,indeed.

Was the remark out of line & inappropriate? Yes
It was not deserving to the Rutgers team. As you said, they are not the public figures that he so often castigates.

The 9th step in the 12 steps of AA is to make amends, the essence & spirit of which is to take the full consequences of our past acts & to take responsibility for the well-being of others. Basically, to take care of "our side of the street". To make the acknowlegement, regardless if it is accepted or not. I believe Imus has, and is doing that now.

I think the news media itself should be ashamed that the two "representatives" they present to castigate Imus are REV. Sharpton & REV. Jackson. I'm sorry to say, and I think it is sad, that these two would do far better good to pay as much attention to help their race rather than sitting in wait to rant against every racial situation that will get them air time, and maybe when this is over, perhaps they should take an inventory of their own situation. And perhaps, they could learn from the statements of the Rutgers team themselves instead of trying to promote their own agenda.

Sorry for the rant!
