Yeah, but (if the economic argument on this floats your boat; it doesn't matter to me on this) how many of the 9,300 over 55 in California prisons both would possibly be eligible for the death penalty (the example in the story wouldn't be; he committed second-degree murder) live long enough to exceed the 2-5 million price tag on executing a guy?
