"Did you happen to search up any of the other submarine patents previously declared to be essential?"

I only looked at the other two U.S. patents with the same title -- "Reverse Link, Transmit Power Correction and Limitation in a Radiotelephone System" -- U.S. Patents 5,590,408 and 5,655,220. Both are still declared ESSENTIAL IPR and each has a later expiration than the withdrawn 5,452,473 patent.

However, neither appears to have an associated European Patent number, [edit: so I can't imagine how the cases in the U.K. and European countries can proceed as filed.]

But ironically there is an associated Finnish patent. <gg>
