Some of the comments I have read point out that "nappy head" is a common comment among blacks about each other, and not taken in a negative sense. The word "Ho" is so common now that it passes in polite conversation.

But put them together and have a white man say them and suddenly they are awful.

Jackson and Sharpton and the NAACP are part of the word police------we lost Senator George Allen because of his misuse of "One" single word in 2006----I didn't know what it meant and had to look it up.

His use of "that word" paled in comparison to what Webb said about women cadets at Annapolis-----but got attention because it was "current" and happening in the moment in a political campaign.

Also, we had a call for the resignation of one of our senior politicians in Virginia when he made a statement about the non-binding resolution apologizing for Virginia being a state in which some people had slaves.

I wonder if Sharpton and any of his friends have ever misused a word in reference to anyone----white,black, yellow, green, bronze whatever color or sex.

I agree that much of the rap music uses vulgar references to people and women----the use of words and images is often denigrating to someone.

Yes, think Jackson and Sharpton need to look within and at the rap songs of their culture----examine their own foibles as they look at others. If they can say "I have never misspoken" then they can criticize.

What I find so reprehensible is that a person can be fired from a job because of a single comment.

Instead of firing this Don Imus that I never listen to-----another solution is to have a radio talk session on these words that he used----------what do they mean----we are writing about it here--------so why not a talk show with Don Imus.

Isn't there a television show that uses the same words???
