Last nite, I was forced to watch the Marie Antoinette movie with Kirsten Dundst. It should be required watching by every tax cut Republican.

I imagine it would strengthen their ideals if it had any effect. Antoinette was supported by the power and wealth of the state which was dominated by a king. Shrinking the role of the state would have reduced her wealth and power relative to the average Frenchman.

France evolved into revolution because the wealthy were living an incredible lifestyle while the poor were starving. Like Bush, the French king was fighting a war in another land. Like the Iraq war, the French war was draining the French treasury. The wealthy in France were immune to the fiscal crisis; however the poor weren't.

In other words, the problem had little to do with the size of the gov't. So much for your antiquated ideology.
