The last thing I want is for men to be treated as badly as women. It would be far better if we could raise the level of treatment for everyone.

As Ghandi said- and eye for an eye makes the whole world blind- and in this case, incivility as payment for incivility makes the whole world unbearably rude. Not exactly the world most of us want for our children, I think.

I dunno. I've heard the new James Bond referred to as the "ugly" one.

People who look different from the fluffy 'norm' have always been singled out for ridicule and nasty teasing. It has gone over the top in schools these days leading even to suicide. That's a parenting problem and parents should be fined and sent to jail when their children misbehave in that way.

That'll show 'em.

:)

The interesting thing is that society's perception of beauty changes over time. Whereas a stick figure sensibility seems to be all the rage when it's easy to get morbidly obese, this wasn't always the case even as recently as the 50s and 60s.

Someone like Marilyn Monroe would have been considered quite plump these days while some of the stick figures of today would have been ridiculed as having piano legs and chicken necks.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Prominent politicians from both parties and a gay-rights group on Saturday condemned right-wing commentator Ann Coulter for her reference Friday to Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards as a "faggot."

"Ann Coulter's use of an anti-gay slur yesterday was un-American and indefensible," Edwards said in a posting on his Web site, www.johnedwards.com.
