If there ever was a losing issue in 2008 it is running on the "success" of the Iraq War.

It was a winning issue of 2006. Not that it was any better idea then, but McCain thought that as the war collapsed he could take the position as the one who said "We should have tried harder!". He didn't expect to have President Junior actually try some half-assed approximation of try-harder. If the Baker-Hamilton approach would have been adopted, McCain would be pointing to any of the inevitable killing incidents that would follow and say "If only you had listened to me this wouldn't be happening". Now he's got a cork in his a*s and can only lament that the country isn't surging hard enough.

We are lucky this fraud was exposed before he got any influence.
