Teck Cominco to split shares, announces dividend

OTTAWA, April 25 (Reuters) - Teck Cominco (TCKb.TO: Quote, Profile, Research), the world's biggest zinc producer, said on Wednesday that its shareholders had approved a two-for-one stock split for its class A common shares and class B subordinate voting shares, effective at the close of business May 7. The company also said it will pay a dividend of 50 Canadian cents a share on a post-split basis on July 3, to shareholders of record at the close of business on June 22. The cash-rich company announced the share split plan in February, but it was subject to shareholder approval at its annual meeting on Wednesday.
