Personally, I'm glad that Gates and Buffett have enough money gathered from just interest to be able to give most of that away....I'd be happier if they would give some to not only the poor. but people of all income levels in the US with an idea that with each course in a trade or profession they completed with at least a C or better grade, they would qualify for additional money for the next set of courses, and some money to live on while they were going to school.

With the corrupt governments in Africa, I'm afraid the money Gates Foundation gives there is just like pouring the money down a rat hole, or the money is put in the courtyard and burned....what probably happens to most of that money is that it feathers the buildings the corrupt leaders build.

The Carnegie Libraries that Carnegie had built in earlier years, are still with us, and the books inside paved the way for our grandparents and parents to financially better themselves so that they, and thus we, could do better ourselves.

When rich people give money away you have to look at it with a jaundiced eye.
When Gates of Buffet give away 100 million it has no effect on their net worth. They might make 100 million/day in interest alone.
