Yeah, I was reading the Economist on the English kidnappees, and they think Iran's leadership is more spread out than we think. The head mullah can veto anything, but I think Amenijad generally sets policy with the support of the elected officials. It's not perfect, but it sounds like it is more democratic than many of the dictatorships like NK, Cuba or Saddam's Iraq. Who knows - when Ajeminadad's term is over, they may elect a guy who has 'normalize relations with the rest of the world' as a platform? Or maybe not, but at least they appear to have relatively open elections.
