True story: When my wife and I went to Mexico for the first time, we had no idea how much things cost down there. We converted all our Canadian dollars to US denominated traveller's checks before going.

We ended up not spending nearly as much down there as we thought. Everything was really cheap back then, we drove nearly all the way to Mexico, we had friends to stay with down there.

In the two months we were away, the Canadian dollar dropped from $1.06 US to 97 cents. When we converted our money back again, the trip ended up being pretty much gratis.

I love Mexico. People are really nice.
