I think your view of things is distorted by a desire that the US fall (by "rot", by the financial collapse of 2001, by whatever) so China can be the preeminent world power. So you exaggerate the US "rot" and overlook substantial moral shortcomings of China's current regime. I think that will still be the case when the US has another President. And another. And another.

-------------------------------------

the rot was and is eXposed, In the Abu Ghraib case, the problem was exposed and the wrongdoers punished by the US Army.

by the good folks, they being people like me.

And humble too.

Maybe being a good folk, you could expose the persecution of such groups as Tibetans, Falun Gong, independent house churches. Then expose the boiling of animals alive and selective abortion of female children.

Okay, I feel bad about mentioning those things. I don't believe for a moment you are personally uninvolved with them all. But I have to mention these things just to get the idea across that if you want to set yourself up as a "good folks" moral preacher denouncing selected people around the world but you ignore those things close to home which surely need examination and correction and which are much more serious than putting panties on a prisoners head, you will be viewed as a mere bigoted crank.
