I don't know if the bias is racial or just national. I suspect he's as negative toward Japan as he is to the US.

Re. Peoplemarks:

TJ probably deserves a high peoplemark as he is probably the only mainland Chinese SI poster. (A shame. I have a friend who grew up in Beijing and was there during the "goddess of democrcy" days and her attitude is quite different from TJ's. But then she lives here in Houston now in the belly of the beast, haha.)

Peoplemarks ARE NOT a reflection of how many readers a person or thread has - I have a large number of threads and people marked but seldom read more than a fraction of them.

Re. ignores: It is mostly a reflection of people wishing to express dislike because of their expressed opinions. If one really wishes to ignore someone, you don't need to push ignore to do it.

Ironically, one's ignore count is not indicative of being ignored. There are people who regularly read the people they have on ignore - to see what outrageous thing the person they don't like is saying now. I know of two people for certain who have me on ignore but read every thing I write.

Both peoplemarks and ignores are indicators of interest. And the interest may be either positive or negative. So they s/b added together to find out how much interest a person generates. The ignore may be the more potent indicator of interest.
