I don't even have seatbelts in my car, and in 42 years no one has been injured in it. Of course the only time it was hit, the Modern car that hit it dissolved in a heap of broken plastic, and dinted my bumper, it did. They left on a truck, I didn't even have to get an estimate.

Perhaps you don't realize it, but you have invoked - by name, no less - an argumentative fallacy, apparently thinking it some kind of argumentative trump card.

Even if one grants that seatbelt laws somehow infringe on your freedom (freedom to be stupid, I guess), there is no logical basis for concluding that greater infringements on your freedom must follow from it.

Just out of curiosity, though, how do you feel about child safety seat laws and seatbelt laws applicable to children riding in your car?
