Pete may have based it on expectation AMD going to to say. AMD management is very predictable.

What is normally done when the volume is low and no longer practical to keep running 90nm process. (When equipment change, it needs to go thru a expensive qualification process)

Customers will be notified to get an estimate. A last production is done and kept in die bank to keep inventory cost low.

Doug - Agreed re: Pete's statement, but it won't take anywhere near 5 years of production to guarantee providing 90nm Opterons for 5 years. They could have enough in stock in fairly short order to provide for that, just stored as dies ready for packaging.
