Sorry, I didn't mean to start a "are we all doomed?" discussion. I'm an optimist. I think humankind will somehow muddle through all these peaks.

Has anyone tried these ultralong and/or ultrashort oil and gas ETFs from ProFunds?

The Ultra Oil & Gas tries to do 2X the performance of the Dow Jones U.S. Oil & Gas Index.

The UltraShort Oil & Gas tries to do 2X the INVERSE performance of the Dow Jones U.S. Oil & Gas Index.

The Dow Jones U.S. Oil & Gas Index (DJUSEN) is a huge index of 85 US energy companies, large and small.

The ETFs started end of January and seem to be reasonably close to reaching their objectives.

You gotta love the ticker symbols.
DIG for the long and DUG for the short.

I think there will be a point in the next few months when DUG will work. What's a good technical indicator? More than 100 posts here in a single day?

In the meantime, Vautour says he doesn't expect consumers to be much affected this year because a steady honey supply from Europe and Asia will help keep prices stable.

Clearly this bee association President can't see the forest through the bees...it's not the honey we are worried about!

Indeed, the Ultimate Peak is "Peak World Population". Unfortunately, we're heading for that one at breakneck speed, it follows food production closely and the signs of stress there are readily evident (CCD, high fertilizer costs due to energy, high energy costs in real terms and climate change to name but a few).
