Many Mathematicians tend to a bit other-wordly, as opposed to say medical doctors, civil engineers, practicing architects. Getting them pointed to practical problems, and COMPLETING solutions, can be very useful. Chickens are hard wired to produce eggs, but they tend to produce more if you feed them. ************** The rewards of SI are several - other good ideas, feed back and reality checks on ideas, reputation, and sense of helping people we like - even those on ignore. Those ideas don't get the degree of due diligence or exhaustive search they would get if there was also monetery reward.
