We started out in Keane Valley, hiking to mount Marcy, my girlfriend (now my wife) and I. We stopped at High Falls on the way. We stayed the night in a leanto with another dude, when we heard this noise in the middle of the night. The other dude gave me his flashlight to find out what was going on and I ended up coming as close as possible to this Black Bear (without touching him), who was eating my wife's granola. The Bear then opened his Mouth and gave me such a tremendous growl that I ran so fast back to the leanto. My wife then told me she kept some granola in the leanto to munch on. I then said "what?, I don't know what we are going to do if the Bear comes in here to eat more granola." The other dude was carrying all this hard liquor and opened up a bottle and told me to drink it. I was so scared I drank the whole bottle of Vodka in five minutes.
