the greatest generation would say the war on terrorism isn't that hard, we know what they look like. Can't say that now.

I know exactly what you mean. I went to a dinner theater production of "Tea House of the August Moon" in the company of two veterans, one of whom was a POW in Germany for two years and the other of whom fought the Japanese in the Pacific.

The Pacific theater veteran did not enjoy the play at all because he remembered all too well what the Japanese did to him.

("Tea House of the August Moon" is a play about the reconstruction of Japan under MacArthur, and portrays the Japanese in a sympathetic light.)
