the big problem , we do not have a knowing stake in it. imo the average person goes on not thinking about iraq etc. just like they have no idea or opinion about who is running for office. If they watch law and order they remember one name.

very passive and into their own world.

"I still remember watching him on TV telling us to go on about our normal daily lives and let the military handle it. I could only shake my head."

Welcome to the problem of "normalacy" in the middle of a long war. By the time WW 2 ended, the American people were sick of the war; they wanted a return to normalacy. Vietnam was remarkable for it's length and the public acceptance of that length. Here we have a war with extreamly low causalties relative to other wars. The US suffered about 81,000 total for the Battle of the Bulge. The current military is volunteer; there is no impact on anyone who doesn not want an impasct on their life. Course, if the Jihadists win, there will be an impact sooner or later.
The Jihadists have our number, the west as a whole does not want to fight. We're a nation of pussywhipped metrosexuals.

I think in the beginning, GWB did a great job of trying to keep the US citizens AND the world citizens as calm as he could, in a most uncertain world after 9-11. The economy was a mess before he took office, the Chinese had caused the huge flap with the downed plane that spring, the Dems wouldn't confirm GWB's proposed appointments, etc...then 9-11. I think the Adm did a great job of so many things then.

BUT something seems wrong now. Don't know if it is just the media gone amuck, or if the WH can't really talk about what they know, or if it is they DON'T ....

Bush needs to tell his handlers to STOP. He needs to be out there telling the American people what the alternatives are. If the regular media wants to cause the downfall of America, then they can continue not printing the truth.

We NEED to have the WH print and record verbatim press conferences, speeches, etc that GWB gives, and those of others who can speak for what the various departments in the government are doing.

We NEED to have a CSPAN channel (a publicly funded chanel with NOTHING but what is happening in various places in the government)....

We need some answers as to what if anything is being done about all the documents found in Iraq...warehouses of them.

What were the links to various countries? What was Saddam doing with whom? What current Iraqi's were behind some of the terrorist activities of today in Iraq?

Will the US ever be paid back for helping with their freedom effort from the coalition--i.e. training their police, their military., building their schools, building any infrastructure? What can be done with Iran and Syria? etc etc etc.....
