I think what we had there in Va Tech was a bunch of amateurs from the Campus police, the administration and even the local police. With the numbers of officers there, and the amount of time they had to act, besides the lockdown, seems to me they could have put a patrol into EVERY bldg on campus rather then all sit on their butts encircling the first bldg where as it turns out the gunman had already left. Plus they could have stopped all traffic vehicular and on foot coming into campus and waived them off. Remember the students killed were in I believe an 11:00 classes, so there was plenty of time to wave them off. I dont think they realized how serious this could be and wanted as little disruption of normal activities as possible. jdn
