re: I'll admit to believing in the neocon vision of democratizing Iraq and driving a stake right through the geographic heart of Islamic extremism.

In that sense, yeah, I was wrong.

But to blame me for the deaths of U.S. soldiers is going way too far. I've always been on the side of an American victory from day one. You can criticize the questionable wisdom that I once supported, but don't accuse me of wanting to see American soldiers die.

Good post. Takes guts (on this thread). Frankly we are all responsible for the waste of lives. Even those of us who were against the war from day one didn't do enough to stop it.

How do we end it now? If you recognize the waste and futility, then you can't deny the responsibility going forward.

What did you think would happen, in a war? Shoulder the blame, bear the guilt.

Once again, you are confusing the issue. In one of your posts you made it seem like 9/11 occurred because you believe that appeasement had something to do with 9/11.......liberal appeasement at that. This is the BS that we've been fed since 9/12 but it has nothing to do with reality let alone the reasons given by bin Laden for making 9/11 happen. In fact, there was a precursor to 9/11 in the early 90s where an explosion was set off in one of the WTC towers. The reason given at that time is that we had set up air bases in Saudi Arabia, a serious violation of the Muslim Mecca.........at least according to bin Laden. And it was the same reason he gave for destroying the WTC in 2001.

In fact, it was the Reagan/Bush decade of the 1980s during which they continually meddled in ME affairs that created the back drop for the war on terror of the 21st century. It was their encrouchment upon and muscular intervention in the affairs of the Middle East and Israel that led to 9/11 and not the right's silly appeasement excuse. You guys need to learn to take responsibility for your screwups and then to learn from your mistakes.
