Misting air coolers need clean, bacteria-free water, at city water psi. Larger systems have their own pump system to reach higher psi and greater cooling ability.

Compared to all water use in the home or business, misting uses hardly any water. You can provide the cooling equivalent of the largest window air conditioner for two quarts of water per hour, or 12 gallons per 24 hour day.

By comparison, you use the same amount of water during a five minute shower with a low-flow shower-head. A leaking toilet valve will waste 16 times as much, up to 200 gallons of water per day.
