Oh, I do realize that, MD....But I'm trying to think if, Heaven forbid, something like that happened at a major university here, how would they notify 26,000 students like VT has, or the nearly 50,000 here....I don't know how many buildings we have here on campus or near campus, but they had over 100+. The facts aren't in yet. It has only been about 18 hours since the gastly day started. It won't even be 24 hours for at least another 5 hours EST. The initial reports this morning called out one person shot, one injured. Then it changed....within 2 hours or so, it went to 22...etc. It's one thing to Lockdown a High School, or Elementary, etc....that's usually no more than 5-10 buildings. And not on about 2,000 acres..... Maybe they do have a sound system warning that goes to all the buildings there. We don't know yet for sure. Does the University near you have warning in all the buildings...? I saw a mobil sound truck alerting people to say in going around some buildings. I remember clearly the day Charles Whitman started shooting people from the Tower in Texas...At least the authorities knew where he was and could eventually deal with him. In this case, they didn't know where he was for sure. And NO ONE knew if he had hostages or not.... Would loudspeakers going off in all buildings, make a crazed individual just shoot everyone in sight all the more? Did anyone know if he had some sort of bomb, or "just guns"....??? I'm sure some of these questions will be asked in a more public forum than just this....Of course, the kids shouldn't have been in the lecture hall. Neither should the Amish girls been lined up either. Nor should any of the Columbine kids been killed...I don't recall any warning for them either...and that it seems was just a building or two... The whole thing makes me emotional and so very sad. Probably because in the long run, criminals will always be able to have or get guns... Was this guy even a student? Do we have to have armed guards at each and every building on a campus....Or for that matter, every where we go? If any of these kids had had a gun or a knife or something, maybe some of them wouldn't have been killed.
