Are we talking about Al Davis?

"Moreover, you also erred by saying the reporter, in his report, either repeated Davis's words or paraphrased them. I reminded you of that but, as it , unremarkably turned out, you did not acknowledge that at all."

There were quotation marks around a false quote in the article you posted. What, exactly, are you talking about? I'm not sure what you are trying to get across, and so rather than assume, why don't you clarify what you mean.

I assumed you would like Fox based on your posting habits- I wasn't "telling you" what they were; I was telling you what my assumption was. There is a rather large difference between those two things. I am pleased and happy to be wrong about that. I do not mind being wrong, and if that assumption made you feel uncomfortable, if you found it rude, or insulting, you have my apologies for that, as well.

Your post makes no sense to me for two reasons:

First, the possibility that Davis did say this was accepted until absolutely no corroboration could be found anywhere else on the net. It seems odd to accept one source among many dissenting sources.

Second, how can someone prove that negative? Semmens gives no source for that quote, and he has placed it in the context of a partial and accurate quote within the quotations, implying it is a direct quote, yet where did he get it?

If I say that Lazarre said, "I am going to take a wet noodle to Iktomi if she doesn't stop telling me what my predilections are", how do you prove you didn't say that? I haven't said where I heard it. All you can do is point to your post and say, "well, look. Here is where I discussed this topic and I said nothing about a wet noodle, and nowhere else on SI do I mention a wet noodle."
Well, prove you didn't say it.
It seems more rational to accept that the preponderance of articles, blogs and stories agreeing on this outweighs the one unproven Semmens quote, which means HE should prove Davis said that, not the opposite.

ANd for the record, I don't hold you in any way responsible for posting Semmens's story, but I am puzzled by the resistance to what really seems kind of a rational conclusion.
