Your argument didn't address that point. It might be an attempt to argue that the other spending is more sensible then the spending in Iraq but it doesn't address the issue of how significant of burden 1% is.

Also in addition to your argument not being directly relevant to what you say you where challenging, it is also something of a straw man. I didn't say that 1% of the GDP is insignificant. It isn't. I said that it isn't bankrupting the country or causing the level of fiscal difficulty that pre-revolutionary France had. This point is true not only because the spending is to small in relation to our economy to cause that level of burden, but also because even considering all other spending we aren't in a similar predicament to what France was in at the time.
