Yeah but compared to the cost of food stamps multiplied by the cost of medicare and divided by the tax cut for the rich: Iraq is cheap!

You bandy about these percentages like they mean something. We have spent a half billion dollars on this war. Because they do. In fact when determining how much of a strain the spending places on a country they are the most important single statistic. They aren't the only thing to consider, but nominal dollars spent are an almost meaningless figure, far less important that the percentage of GDP. A percentage that small can't break our countries fiscal back. As for combining them with other spending. Well any spending combined with all over spending could be said to be a fiscal strain, but the strong majority of the stain is from the other spending, not from Iraq.
