I don't see that much debate over gun control over what happened. I see more debate about what the heck the campus and local police did or did not do (mostly did not) along with what everyone who realized that the man was in dire emotional straits did or did not (mostly did not) do.

There were many times when family, friends, the school, classmates, dorm mates, etc. could have stepped in but apparently no one did much of anything except ignore the guy. This kind of thing takes years to develop and sloughing it off isn't the answer.

It's a tragedy for sure but it's not a reason to try and make gun 'control' a major issue again. This happens once in a great while but it does make the news over and over and over again. If progressives take up the inane mantra of 'gun control' as if it's some kind of central issue then it will be a losing fight.

IMO the only way to make it a reasonable idea is to take ALL guns away from ALL people inside the borders. To arm the government to the teeth (remember the groom shot on his wedding day in NYC or the guy reaching for his cell phone getting shot 40 times by mistake also in NYC?) while taking arms away from the citizenry is a really stupid idea.
