If we had more at stake, we'd sure be angrier when we discovered that we were lied into the war. In the Mexican War, hawkish Congressmen and President Polk said, "American blood has been spilled on American soil." One maverick hawk Congressman asked a stupid question: "Exactly where was this blood spilt?" There was no answer, but we went to war, anyway. That Congressman was a loonie named Abraham Lincoln.
