We had some midshipmen on board and this one particularly aggravating one who acted as though he was already fleet admiral was with me to run the diesel. As we were approaching periscope depth I said damn, I forgot the keys to the diesel, you need to run to control to get them. Control sent him to engineering who sent him to Machine II to talk to an ET who sent him to LL engineering to get them from the Captain who was supervising their efforts during the drill. I of course had the diesel running by this time with a call from the CO telling me to stop picking on the kids even though he is a little smart ass:)
