If everyone on a 26,000-student campus were armed and 4% are depressed or schizophrenic, that would yield more than a 1000 potential Cho Seung Hui's with the rest of the campus hoping they can win the shootouts when they start.

Yes I just heard from a FBI pro-filer that on a campus of this size you can expect 2 % will be paranoid schizophrenic,
2 % will be depressed...


ML, one thing to remember. Those statistics are, at best, educated guesses. I wouldn't even give them that much credit.

Another point. It's been my experience that student counseling services, psychiatric services, whatever are not set up to deal with the kinds of pathologies we now see in the these Virginia Tech reports. Nor are most campus police units.

My guess is much of this will change. And not for the better. Campuses are likely to become much more fortress like. If, for no other reason, than the perpetual fears of lawsuits.
