Well, it's not quite that bleak. On the campus at which I taught for sometime, it was a punishable offense for a student to have weapons on campus. And students were extremely helpful with enforcement. Frankly, I don't think the student culture on most campuses will tolerate guns on campus. I suspect it will only happen if state legislatures get in the act. I can already imagine reading Molly Ivins' pieces on the Texas legislature passing such. Just realized again how much I miss her work.
