"Collateral damage" is unavoidable in a time of war. Retribution was indeed part of the rationale in attacking the Taliban for their support of Osama bin Laden. Keeping the response "measured and targeted" is a responsibility of anyone who has the power.

You are very clumsily skirting. Collateral damage vs your assertion that nuking Japan was ok for you, on the basis of retribution for atrocities agains NK and China...that's a long stretch bud.

The aim was to stop Japan. If Japan had unconditionally surrendered before the nukes were dropped, then there would be no need nor justification for nuking them. Since they didn't until after they were nuked, none of your accusations hold water....

Blah blah blah...truman's decision was pragmatic, your rationalization that of a vengeful man.

Your standard is obviously lower than mine, and yet you still can't avoid being a hypocrite. Come on, Al, it's not that hard. Look at Larry Flynt.

There is no ambiguity for me pal...I struggle greatly with violence...i need a pretty definitive test even for self defensive violence. You seem to have no problem with it...you have defended questionable pre-emption vigorously...my standards are far higher than yours. You know a heart sinner quite intimately...it's the kind that would not commit a sin of violence personally, but gladly pays his taxes and votes so others do it for him...i think the latter is much worst, don't you?

Al

Under Bush the military is now letting in mentally unstable losers like Cho. That's to meet recruitment requirements. Up to 42 years old OK, criminal records, psychos, almost anyone.

It seems like everything Bushies touch goes insane and destructs.

The problem is that the rightwing is totally rotten from the head downb. No ethics. No honesty. No competence. Just hardlining, greedy bastards putting lobbyists and radicals in charge of our great country. They also stole three elections in a row. They all need to be held accountable.
