I have found that I can't consume any more than 1000 calories a day to lose weight. If I eat 1200 calories a day, I maintain my current weight. I know that when I ski in the winter I tend to lose inches. And the more active I am the better.

It has been and always is a constant struggle.

I look at those really skinny people and realize they eat about as much as a bird. I suppose I could do that, but is that safe?

And at my age, I want to live a little. I'm comfortable in my skin, but wouldn't mind losing a bit more just for health purposes. I think the less you weigh or the closest to your "ideal" weight the better for you over all.

i really put on the weight , knew i was a lot heavier but when i saw myself in pictures i was shocked! I didn't get serious until my wife who is a heavy woman on a very small frame due to steroids, no exercise, etc. began to fall quite often. I couldn't pick her up, she was dead weight and around 200 lbs, I would have to call my son to come and pick her up off the floor. Once or twice there was a neighbor i could call. I got serious and knew i couldn't continue waiting on my son to drive over or he may not be available and calling 911 seemed the last alternative. so i cut down on food, lost 30 lbs in over three four months, was able to pick her up with out assistance and even tie my shoes without getting out of breath.

Now with her bedridden the last several months i have put 15 lbs back on. I must get back to consuming less junk food, that will drop the weight as larger meals are no longer the problem, it was going back to the snacks that hurts.

I would like to exercise however , i think i get enough demand for activity throughout the day and have to make sure i can get through each day. g
