For what it's worth we've had multiple calls the past few days from drilling companies looking for places to go. This hasn't happened in MONTHS. Rumor has it that rigs are leaving the Barnett Shale play, due to low gas prices.

Also, from the drillers calling, the footage rate is FALLING.

I'd be careful with the drillers here....

I think the basic deal with Form 1116 for Foreign Tax Credit is you don't get to take the full tax credit if your AGI after deductions is too small.

You get to deduct the smaller of:

1.) Your Foreign Tax paid;

2.) Foreign Income / AGI minus Deductions * IRS Tax before Tax Credit
