At the time of my near miss my accounts were at Waterhouse, and they gave me the guidance I've stated. I checked with Fidelity when I move my accounts there, and was given the same answer given by Waterhouse.

I subsequently set up a spreadsheet to track settled funds per each sale......from the purchase date. It's a pain in the rear to track, but it has kept me out of trouble.
