don't forget you most likely started out with a four party line, then two party line and then your own line.

my cousins on Prince edward island. had a ring phone, you would call the operator on the island and ask for ring 13. As you talked to them the connection would get weaker, it was the others on the line picking up to listen in to get news from the states.

One summer i was visiting , while sitting in the kitchen the phone rang all night long. somehow they knew when it was for them. Oh, there were 23 families on the line.

Now kids got their own cell phone.

My dad would throw our stuff down the clothes shoot if we didn't put it away...It didn't bother me, in the morning, I'd go into the basement and get my books, coats, etc...
